Digital Libraries for Educators — Pt. 1

Digital assets are essentially collections of instructional materials, interactive activities and information which are media-rich and very engaging. The Digital Assets Repository describes the content, source and focus of these resources as well as their relevance to educators (levelled — primary, middle, high, college etc).

One of the outstanding resources is the Sounds of American English site which is especially useful for ELL and Speech. Many animations and sound examples are accompanied by descriptions of how the sounds are made physically.

Another example from the listing is theĀ Hermitage Museum’s Virtual Academy which has an outstanding unit on Ancient Egypt. More on digital libraries to come!
